Revolutionizing Texas Home Inspector Training

At The Inspection Academy, we take a unique approach to Texas home inspector training. Unlike traditional programs, we embrace Adult Learning Theory and proven Instructional Design models to enhance learning and retention. Our curriculum goes beyond information delivery because students need more than passive content to succeed.

Many programs simply present exam-related facts, but we recognize that effective training requires deeper engagement. That’s why we create interactive courses with a variety of exercises, inspection simulations, and purposeful learning experiences. Every activity reinforces key concepts, helping students retain the knowledge at test time.

Success on the home inspection exams depends on more than memorization. Inspectors must recall the information with confidence. By emphasizing retention and real-world application, we prepare students to excel on their licensing tests.

Join The Inspection Academy and experience a learning journey designed for how adults learn best—through engagement, practice, and real-world relevance.

National Home Inspector Examination

Preparing for the National Home Inspector Examination requires mastering an overwhelming amount of information. In fact, it could be compared to eating a whale. The exam material divides into four structured classes, each with specific time requirements and constraints.

For example, the Property and Building Inspection courses each require 40 hours, making them the longest. The Property & Building Inspection I course alone covers:

  • Electrical Systems
  • Heating Systems
  • Cooling Systems
  • Plumbing Systems
  • Fireplaces & Chimneys
  • Kitchen Appliances

Now, imagine taking this course in person. You would attend Monday through Friday, sitting in class for eight hours daily. That schedule gives students only 6.5 hours per topic—barely enough time for instructors to introduce key concepts.

With such limited time, instructors struggle to cover every detail, let alone reinforce important concepts. Unfortunately, students receive minimal repetition, making retention incredibly difficult.

Don’t forget the fact there are two 40-hour courses. In other words, students enrolled in classroom courses would have two weeks to cover all of the information contained two 450-page text books.

Facts About Texas Home Inspector Training

Traditional Texas home inspector education is broken. Too often, it fails to prepare students for the rigorous licensing exam. Many programs rely on long, monotonous lectures or textbook readings—an outdated approach that neither engages students nor reinforces key concepts.

As a result, students struggle to retain critical information when exam day arrives. This lack of preparation leads to low passing rates. In Texas, the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE) includes additional state-specific questions. The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) tracks exam performance, and the average passing rate for approved education providers is only 58.79%.*

Would you hire a tutor who couldn’t pass their own classes? An out-of-shape personal trainer? A homeless life coach? Why pay a school that fails to achieve acceptable student passing rates?

The Inspection Academy takes a different approach. We designed our Texas home inspector courses to fill the gaps in the traditional education classes. Our program ensures students gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to pass the exam on the first attempt.

Pass Your Texas Home Inspector Examination

To absorb the information needed to pass the home inspector exam is like eating a whale–it must be done one bite at a time. To be successful, students must digest the content in small increments with consistent reinforcement. At The Inspection Academy, every reading assignment and reinforcement activity takes about five minutes. Since students can access materials on any device, they can study anywhere and anytime.

Research supports this method. A study of 600 business school students found that learning in short bursts with breaks improved retention by 20%. To maximize learning, students should study for 20 minutes at a time with breaks in between.

We have invested time and effort into creating an in-depth educational experience. As students progress, they repeatedly encounter and interact with key information. This structured repetition strengthens long-term recall, increasing their chances of passing the home inspector exam.

Join The Inspection Academy and experience a groundbreaking approach that fills the gaps in traditional home inspection training. Our unique program ensures you pass the exam on your first attempt and excel in your new career.
